Description

WHAT IF YOU COULD MEET TRADITIONAL PUBLISHING STANDARDS WITH YOUR SELF-PUBLISHED BOOK?

With well over 200 checkpoints. This comprehensive list helps you raise the standard of your self published work even if you’ve never published a book before. It separates you from the people who have no publishing experience who are creating a weaker more amateurish title, and puts you in the same league as the traditionally published author.

This checklist gives you, the independent author, the ability to gauge of the quality of your business book in its final stages of publication.

It enables you to test where you have hit traditional publishing standards, and reveal and remedy any sections that may have fallen short.

There has been some stigma in the past, that self published authors are in some way inferior to traditionally published titles, since self-published titles lack a gatekeeper to uphold quality, and can be somewhat lacklustre and amateurish in their execution.

This checklist allows you to bridge the gap and provides a detailed and structured system, to ensure that your book is judged on its merits and quality, not the business model for publishing.

Although each book is different, and there is a highly creative element to each title produced, there are still fundamental quality checks that need to be met that apply to all books.

These checks ensure the reader has an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Furthermore, the presentation of your material needs to be of a suitably high professional standard and worthy of your name as an expert in your field.

What’s assessed…

A

Part 1: Your book cover (front, back, spine)

The 31 checkpoints for your cover check your concept quickly and clearly explains what your book is about and how it helps readers.

It ensures your design and the text you have included punches its weight and creates a positive impression on your readers, potential customers and other people in your industry.

The front, spine and back cover are rigorously assessed.

A

Part 2: Your Front Matter

This is the standard material that appears at the start of a book. For example, a table of contents or a copyright page. This comprehensive section includes over 60 checkpoints to ensure the start of your book has a traditionally published feel to it.

Many newbie authors think of a title page and a table of contents. And forget lots of other important information that can add gravitas to their publication.

A

Part 3: Your Back matter

Similar to front matter, there are standard sections that appear in at the end of traditionally published books that are suitable for inclusion in your title as well, for example, appendices, endnotes, citations, glossary and bibliography, supporting information that help the reader with further study.

Part 4: Interior formatting

As well as being readable, your book must also be legibly presented. This section looks at how your book is formatted as a whole, and how consistently specific elements are layed out. For example, case studies or exercises that you’ve set.

A

Part 5: Your content

The final part looks at the quality of your information. This is not the same as a full professional edit, but it will help improve the quality of the information that you share.

There are a series of checkpoints that look at the structure of your book as a whole. These are followed by finer, detailed checkpoints that make sure that each of the chapters is structured in a similar way.

Finally, there is a review of the content to make sure that is clear and concise as possible.

SIDE-STEP THE STRESS of the final stages WITH THIS SIMPLE QUALITY CHECK

1. Follow the same checks I use when I publish my author’s books… books with a 99% five-star rating on average

2. Be confident silly, rookie mistakes will not undermine your hard-earned credibility

3. Apply a simple pass/fail system to each of the 200+ points, each one concisely described, so you know what to look for

4. Publish a book you are proud of, that is a true reflection of your professionalism and expertise, not a error-prone, distracting, hurried, pale imitiation of who you really are.

How Easy Is It To Quality check your book?

Pretty easy if you ask me.

All you need to do is… click on the “Add to basket” button just up there ^^^ 🙂

And once you have paid (I mean invested…) you’ll get complete access to everything I’ve been talking about.

Each of the check points is divided into easy to follow groups, with a detailed description of the item to review. Work your way through the list, marking off the elements that have passed and the bits that need some TLC.

It deskills the review process, but still enables you to significantly improve your book and bring it in line with traditional publishing standards…. not rank amateur.
